Rehabilitation

We are passionate about supporting our patients during their rehabilitation period

Here at Wright and Morten we are passionate about supporting our patients during the rehabilitation period and beyond.

Each orthopaedic case receives a tailor made exercise programme as a guide for owners to follow during this crucial period, to help their horses improve their muscle and core strength and ultimately helping them stay pain free in the long term.

We have put together some helpful videos and information about exercises and treatments we recommend for our patients recovery, as well as on-going maintenance.

  • Carrot Stretches
  • Lunging Aids
  • Pole Work
  • INDIBA and HWAVE

Carrot Stretches

Most of us know we should do them but how many of you actually do and are you doing them correctly?

Join Kayleigh from Fine Form Equine Physiotherapy (also one of our qualified nurses) as she talks us through this important daily practice we should all be doing with our horses.

Lunging Aids

Lunging forms an important part of many horses regular workload and, when done correctly, can be very beneficial to build strength and fitness. We often get asked about the use of lunging aids. When used correctly, these can be great aids to encourage horses to work from behind into a soft frame.

To help ensure you know how to use these aids for maximum benefit, we have put together a video discussing 2 common systems:

  • EquiAmi
  • Pessoa

Please note: If your horse has a specific problem or injury please discuss with your vet before introducing a lunging aid.

Pole Work

Pole work should form a regular part of our horses workload to help build and maintain muscle and improve core strength.

Join vet Anna and nurse and physiotherapist Kayleigh as they talk through top tips on how to get the most out of your sessions, while Flo and George demonstrate a range of pole work exercises.

INDIBA and HWAVE

We are focusing on two of the complementary therapies we offer and recommend in certain cases both for short term and long term support.

INDIBA radiofrequency therapy is a valuable non-invasive treatment for horses. By stimulating cellular activity, it promotes healing and recovery from injuries, alleviates pain, and helps prevent future injuries. Additionally, it can enhance overall performance, making it a great tool for both rehabilitation and maintenance. This therapy harnesses the body’s natural processes, supporting optimal health and well-being in equine athletes.

HWAVE is an advanced electrotherapy machine designed for equine use, focusing on both muscular and neurological stimulation. It works by transmitting electrical pulses through pads placed on the horse's muscles, which can be adjusted to either 60Hz for deeper, slower stimulation or 2Hz for faster, more superficial effects. This therapy can help with muscle recovery, pain relief, and overall performance enhancement in horses.
